A Brief History of the HP3000-L
JK
HP3000-L began as an informal electronic and "physically mailed" monthly
newsletter "HP3000 Public Networking Newsletter" published by Jeff Kell of the
University of Tennessee at Chattanooga to compliment the Education column in _Interact_
around 1985. When BITNet's Listserv software became available to UTC, the newsletter
became the HPNETS-L list, later renamed to simply HP3000-L to incorporate all aspects of
the HP3000 systems into the discussion and increase visibility and readership.
Comprehensive archives of past discussions are available from Listserv back to January
1990 inclusive. Archive storage and list processing resources are provided by the Center
of Excellence for Computer Applications (CECA) at the University of Tennessee at
Chattanooga on an IBM 9221 mainframe.
Usenet newsgroup cross-posting is provided by the
Listserv/Usenet gateway at Easy Does It Technologies and is currently managed by
Michael Gueterman.
