(NS) DSCOPY on the HP3000

4.5.1. (NS) DSCOPY

DSCOPY (a system to system file copying system) that only works between HP systems (HP3000s and HP9000s - though support on HP9000s ended recently) is part of HP's NS/3000 package. NS/3000 is a purchasable product and is becoming of only marginal utility. HP intends that more "open" protocols like FTP take its place.

For it's faults, DSCOPY does handle HP3000 to HP3000 file transfers somewhat easier than FTP does (DSCOPY knows about all the proprietary HP3000 file attributes and automatically preserves them). The currently supported FTP on the HP3000 will also handle most MPE file attributes automatically when transferring files between two HP3000s (or to other locations on the same HP3000).
