HP3000 Users Advocacy Groups

9.1 Interex (International HP Users Group)

9.1.1. Interex Services

9.1.1.2. Advocacy

Interex wa the official organization recognized by Hewlett-Packard to deal with vendor advocacy issues with HP. Interex's special interest groups thus coordinate (and prioritize) enhancement requests submitted to HP software and hardware engineers. Interex closed its doors (and websites) in 2005.

9.1.1.3. SWAP Tapes

Interex sponsored a "swap tape" at each annual conference. Anyone that makes a contribution to the tape gets in return a copy of the entire swap tape (including all other contributions). These contributions also make it into Interex's software library, available for free to all site-members. Unfortunately the contributed software library went away when Interex did.

9.1.1.4. Conferences

There are no longer any national HP3000 specific conferences, though there are some regional users groups that still sponsor shows.

9.1.2. Special Interest Groups (SIGs)

9.1.3. Regional Users' Groups

9.2. OpenMPE

http://www.openmpe.org/

"OpenMPE seeks to be the custodian for the MPE/iX Operating System that is at the center of the MPE community. To that end, OpenMPE Incorporated was formed as a entity co-operatively run by the users and vendors of MPE/iX and is in the process of seeking non-profit status.  The MPE town's people and businesses will provide funding and obtain control of OpenMPE by virtue of their User and Vendor Memberships. In turn, OpenMPE will use those funds, at the direction of its membership (the community) to provide the care and upkeep of the MPE/iX Operating system (and related software). That way it continues to be available to the town's people (companies using MPE/iX) for all their important functions and to the local businesses (vendors) for the selling of their software and services."
