Most HP3000 development is either done the "old fashioned way" - using a simple text editor on the HP3000, or via code imported into a development environment on a PC. While some PC development environments can understand most programming language syntax, HP3000 specific system calls and some extensions to the programming languages on the HP3000 will not be understood on the PC environment; nor will most PC based compilers understand an HP3000 program in any language (other than perhaps Java or C++).
